Food and shopping

Fancy a spot of retail therapy? Wrexham is great for shopping - whether you're looking for the perfect something for a night out, to kit out your new student flat, or just to stock up on the essentials, you'll find everything you need right here.

Wrexham also has a great café culture, with a whole a host of coffee shops and restaurants.

Eagles Meadow

Eagles Meadow is at the hub of Wrexham's shopping district, just a short walk from the centre of town. You'll find some of the major high street names here, including Topshop, H&M, River Island, Next, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, M&S and Boots. And when you get tired of shopping, there's also a Costa, Starbucks, Nandos, Pizza Express and Frankie & Benny's, as well as tenpin bowling, and an 8 screen Odeon cinema.

Wrexham town Centre

Town Centre

Wrexham town centre features more of the same, including Primark, WH Smith, New Look and Waterstones, as well as a host of independent shops and indoor markets. Further shopping can be found at a handful of retail parks, including Island Green and Border Retail Park, which are situated on the outskirts of the town centre.

Right next door to the university's main campus you'll find the Plas Coch Retail Park, home to Argos, TK Maxx, Homebase, Boots, Currys PC World and Frankie and Benny's.

Supermarkets

When you need to do some food shopping, Wrexham has all of the major supermarket chains. As well as Sainsbury's and Aldi right next door to the campus on the Plas Coch Retail Park you'll find Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Lidl all within a short distance.

There are also several specialist food shops too and you'll can also visit the Wrexham Farmers Market on the third Friday of every month.

Beyond Wrexham

If you've exhausted all of Wrexham's options, or you're just looking for something a bit different; some of North West England's major shopping venues are right on your doorstep.

Hope Mountain

Broughton Shopping Park

Located just 12 miles from Wrexham in the neighbouring county of Flintshire (and not far from our Northop campus), Broughton Shopping Park features a whole host of high street favourites, including Next, New Look, River Island, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Accessorize as well as Asda Living, WHSmith, Tesco and Boots.

There is also an 11-screen Cineworld cinema, which boasts North Wales’ first and only IMAX screen, and a host of restaurants including Nando’s, Chiquito, Prezzo, Pizza Express and Frankie & Benny’s.

Chester

The cobbled Roman streets of Chester and its famous rows offer up a unique shopping experience. Just 20 minutes from Wrexham, the city centre's shopping scene is a mix of independent, boutique stores and larger, traditional high street department stores and national shopping chains. Chester City Centre

Cheshire Oaks

Cheshire Oaks is the UK's largest outlet centre is situated near Ellesmere Port, a 20-25 minute drive from Wrexham. More than 145 brands from the world of fashion, technology, food and drink have stores there, offering exclusive products and savings over products on the high street.

The Trafford Centre

More than 35 million people visit the The Trafford Centre every year. Located in Manchester (50 minutes - 1 hour drive from Wrexham; slightly longer by train), it's one of the biggest self-contained shopping areas in the North West. Spread over more than 200,000 sq m, it features a set of almost 300 stores, plus restaurants, a cinema and other family entertainment.

Liverpool One

The open air Liverpool One is the flagship shopping complex on Merseyside. It has attracted similarly high profile brands to the Trafford Centre, including John Lewis and Apple, and also has a great range of restaurants. Liverpool is accessible from Wrexham by car (around 1 hour) or on the train (1 - 1.5 hours).
